SOUVENIR BUYER GUIDE

How to Turn Artwork Into Merchandise

Published August 28, 2026

Protect the visual hierarchy

Identify the details that must remain recognizable at product scale: line work, color relationships, a signature crop or a focal subject. Avoid forcing detailed artwork into a format that cannot carry it clearly.

Choose a product route

Acrylic and drinkware often suit art-led color. Pins can distill an image into a collectible shape. For sculptural artwork or objects, resin may create a more faithful dimensional interpretation.

Use sampling to test translation

Before production, review the chosen scale, color treatment, surface finish and packaging copy. The goal is not a literal reproduction in every format, but a coherent product that still respects the source artwork.
